By request – here is a little adaptation of one of the themes from Ninjago.
This is a little trickier than the other things we’ve attempted so far. It has string crossing and skipping fingers and some more complex rhythm.
If you’re currently playing Twinke pretty comfortably, though, this one is a good challenge.
Break it down into manageable chunks – half a bar (or so) at a time. For example, you could attack the first two bars in this sequence:
- First half of bar 1 – all on the A string (yellow)
- Second half of bar 1 and first note in bar 2 – all on the D string (green)
- Second half of bar 1 flowing into the end of bar 2 – add the open A (blue)
- Once you have yellow and blue, play them one after the other
Try to adapt that approach to the rest of the piece. As always, have a look at the music and see if you can see where bits are repeated (for example bar 1 is the same as bar 5).
